As you make your way through them, something catches your eye. You take the door next to the window, and find yourself alone in the woods. You check the window, not trusting your eyes. In the next room are rows of bathtubs filled with stagnant water. Rows of hospital beds, clipboards hanging next to each, with scribbled notes difficult to make out. You open the door and find yourself in an empty asylum. You watch the fight but wordlessly slip away, to a narrow, dark hallway, up a flight of stairs, to the fifth floor. All at once a horde of ghosts flood into the darkroom, and at their center two men. Photos of decomposing female bodies are hung to dry. Behind the studio, separated by floor-to-ceiling shelves, is the darkroom. You make your way across the dark cobble-stoned street and slip into a photography studio. To your right is a macabre version of a century-old natural history museum, or a taxidermist’s study. To your left is a dark room filled with specimen jars and other witchcraft. You walk into what looks and feels like a cobblestone street. The door shuts and you are taken to the fourth floor. When you step out of the elevator, you will all be ghosts. Everyone in the elevator is wearing the same mask. A white masquerade mask that curves grotesquely at the bottom. Soon you are escorted onto a small, crowded elevator. A jazz trio sets up on a small stage surrounded by an audience mostly in their twenties and thirties. They offer you punch and you drink it down quickly. Before your eyes have had time to adjust, you pull back a velvet curtain and find yourself in a 1930s jazz club. You walk through pitch-blackness, hands in front of you, through a winding hallway. They take your coat and ticket and motion towards a dim light in the distance. DO NOT CLICK BELOW THE JUMP.You wander into the dark hotel on eleventh avenue and walk through a dimly lit hall. STOP READING IF YOU WANT TO KNOW NOTHING OF THE NEW 4TH FLOOR CHARACTER. Lo and behold, I saw the new scene also!!! It really made me think and also, Evelyn is a magician because she was fantastic at the slight of hand involved! Bravo!Īfter, I decided to head up and see who was in the rep bar and check out the 4th floor characters. But I was enjoying our time together, so I continued following her. When I leaned over to see what she was writing, she turned and made eye contact before whisking me off for the 1:1.Īt this point I was both honored that she shared that moment with me and also a bit disappointed, thinking this may reduce my chance of seeing the new scene later in the loop. I watched her with another guest until they walked away. She is in total control and seems deeply sad about it. Unlike many of the other Nurse Shaws, her nurse is very calm and methodical about the chalking. I found Evelyn Chen‘s nurse in the operating theater chalking the walls. Around the 2nd floor I think, “This isn’t so bad!” Around the 3rd floor I start thinking, “Time to go back to the gym.” Around the 4th floor I am thinking, “What the hell is wrong with you…again?!?!” By the 5th floor I am just trying to breathe like I didn’t just complete the Boston Marathon. I have yet to figure out why but I always decide that the perfect time to check out the 5th floor is when I am in the ballroom. Some things that caught my attention as noteworthy (even though I never actually made it back to any of them) were Ida Saki‘s Lady Macbeth, Marissa Maislen‘s Danvers, and Ryan Van Compernolle‘s Agnes. As soon as I realized it existed after my last show I knew it was at the top of the priority list. You know what I’m talking about! The big goal for the eventing was to see a new scene with Nurse Shaw. This was quite the show for me! I knew exactly what my first priority for this show was, but I started with my obligatory trip to the ballroom for the cast of characters survey. I will make it really clear when I start. So if you want to know nothing about it, don’t read when I warn you I will be talking about it. I WILL NOT be talking about 1:1′s or things that happen behind locked doors, as per usual, but I will discuss my time with the 4th floor character and scenes that take place in the open spaces. I don’t consider it a spoiler seeing how it has been in the show regularly for months now but I will be talking about the “new” 4th floor resident. My next show is going to be my 100th.Ħth floor nurse at the late show was Virginia Logan.Īn older recap from the vaults, skipping 40-45 (sorry) and now we’re caught up to work on more current recaps or all ya’ll who’ve been asking!Ī quick note about my recap.
